Mani Haqiqi, Setareh Pesyani join 'Indian'

Two new thespians join Nima Javidi's latest project 'Indian'.

Setareh Pesyani and Mani Haqiqi are the two actors who are to star in the movie.

Born in 1969, Haqiqi is an Iranian filmmaker, screenwriter as well as actor and the grandson of the writer and filmmaker Ebrahim Golestan.

Mani Haqiqi is the son of celebrated cinematographer Nemat Haqiqi and renowned translator Leili Golestan.

He has a BA in Philosophy from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He has two Master’s degrees, one in Philosophy and another in Cultural Studies.

Haqiqi’s first directing and scriptwriting experience was in ‘Abadan’ (2001). He was one of the writers of the script for ‘Fireworks Wednesday’ (2005), which was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Fajr International Film Festival and Iran Cinema Celebration.

In 2006, he took home the Crystal Simorgh for Best Original Screenplay for his work on ‘Men at Work’ (2005). The film also received the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) prize at Asian Film Festival.

He has appeared in the movies such as ‘About Elly’ (2008), ‘Beloved Sky’ (2009), ‘No Men Allowed’ (2010), ‘Simple Reception’ (2011), ‘Azar, Shahdokht, Parviz and Others’ (2013), and ‘Melbourne’ (2013).

Setareh Pesyani is daughter of Atila Pesyani, the famous Iranian actor.

Her first debut happened when she was 5 years old, in a play directed by her father.

She has directed the play of ‘Magic Musical Instrument’ (1995), when she was 13.

In 1991, she entered cinema by acting in ‘The World's Best Dad’.

She has played in several movies and series such as ‘Unfinished Narrations’ (2006), ‘Three Women’ (2007), ‘The Third Wave’ (2008), ‘Registry Number 13’ (2009), and ‘No Men Allowed’ (2010).

She has won the best actress award of the 28th Fajr Theater Festival for playing in ‘The House’ (2009) play.
